[21-79b] JOSEPHUS ROBERTS, same as above, m 2d time, Aug. 21, 1873, EMMA E. LAFER- TY, b May 22, 1836; d Feb. 11, 1911; sister of first wife. Hardware business; res. 207 E. Logan St., Gtn., Phila., Pa. (1918.)

Josephus Roberts was educated in the public schools of Lower Providence, Pa.,and Freeland Seminary, now Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pa. In 1855 he entered the hardware business in Phila. with Shields and Brothers; in 1866 he formed the partnership of Roberts and Phillips, and conducted the carriage material business on Third Street, Phila., for thirty years, retiring in 1896. He was elected to represent the twenty-second ward in Common Council 1907-8, and 1916-7, declining a re-election.
