John Hartranft at one time conducted the Sumneytown Hotel. In his will Ephraim Hartranft mentions the following:

“Caroline K. Hartranft, widow of my brother Jacob; my niece Sallie A. Missimer; my nephews, Jonas 8. and John W. Hartranft, William Custer Hartranft; my nieces and nephews, the children of my deceased brother Jacob Hartranft.’’ The will was probated Apr. 4, 1886.

Mrs. Caroline Hartranft [49-220b] of 220 King St., Pottstown, Pa., has picture of John Hartranft. (1918.)
