Rev. David M. Heydrick was born in Flourtown, Pa. Early in life he became an active Sunday School worker and joined the Presbyterian Church. He received his college and theological training at Lafayette College and Princeton University, respectively. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he entered the service for the relief to the sick and wounded, and later labored with the Christian Commission both on the field and in the hospital.

After the war he went to Brooklyn where he engaged in City Mission work, continuing to be ‘‘the devoted and indefatigable friend of the Poor,’’ until the time of his death. [For full biography, see “Christian Herald,” Mar. 2, 1904.)
