Jacob Meschter was elected a minister of the Schwenkfelder Society on May 13, 1854, and served his people faithfully until his death, a period of thirty-seven years. Being a farmer, it was said of him that he “prepared his sermons behind the plow.”” He was a fluent speaker and preached eloquent sermons. He lived on the farm now occupied by his grandson, Harvey C. Meschter, at Palm, Pa. (1920.)
